Melissa Schenkman, MPH, MSJ, is a skilled content writer with a passion for storytelling and a background in journalism, communications, research, medicine, and public health.
She has worked in nonprofit, hospital, and global settings. Most recently, she has served as the Director of Clinical Content for ALYKA Health, leading the development of evidence-based healthcare and wellness content focused on preventive health, cardiovascular wellness, and behavior change communication.
Prior to that she served as the Senior Patient Engagement Writer on the United Kingdom-based Patient Engagement Team at OPEN Health Evidence & Access, where she translated complex clinical and medical concepts into clear, audience-centered storytelling for patient and healthcare professional audiences in Europe, the UK, and the US. Before joining the global organization, Melissa served as a Writer and Editor for the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI), a nonprofit organization in Washington, DC.
Melissa holds dual master’s degrees. She earned her Masters of Public Health from the Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University with a concentration in behavioral science and health education. She also earned a Master of Science in Journalism from the Medill School of Journalism, Media and Integrated Marketing Communications at Northwestern University, where she was a recipient of the Comer Scholarship.
